Without our volunteers, PKCC would not be able to provide a place for groups to have camps and retreat.

We have many opportunities to serve here at Pu’u Kahea Conference Center

Volunteer Work Days

Setting up work days for your church, small group, family, individually etc. to help us around the camp. We have lots of landscaping and cleaning, renovations projects, that we could always use help.

Cost: travel to and from the camp and food for volunteers

One to three months

Volunteer Camp Staff

Couples or Individuals are needed year-round at Pu'u Kahea Conference Center, helping to maintain the facility. Work may include housekeeping, general maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, laundry, and other duties as needed. Volunteers work 5 days and are off 2 days per week. Individuals may also be considered, depending on housing availability. We are looking for those who are self-starters, in good physical condition and able to put in full day’s work. Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to and from Hawaii. PKCC can provide a vehicle for local transportation for days off but volunteers are responsible for gas. A studio efficiency apartment is provided for the couple’s lodging. Volunteers will need to provide their own meals as the camp does not currently offer food services. One month minimum commitment, and up to three months possible.

*Longer term volunteers are required to go through an over-the-phone interview, background check, and complete a sexual abuse awareness training before volunteering. This is to ensure the safety of our guest, volunteers, and staff members.

Over the last 60+ years, hundreds if not thousands have accepted Christ, rededicated their lives to Christ, or accepted the call to full-time service to Him while staying at PKCC. Our volunteers are all a part of providing the atmosphere for lives to be changed.

As some of you know, our tent canopy was torn off in one of the many storms we had over the winter months. We are happy to say that we have a brand new tent canopy up and ready for our guest to use! Swipe to see the process of putting it up ➡️

Thankful for the Ford’s for coming in April! They were originally planned to volunteer at another camp but changed plans and came out to Pu’u Kahea. They were such a big blessing as we didn’t have any volunteers scheduled for April.

We had the pleasure of having the Presley’s here with us from the beginning of January to beginning of April! They were like hanai (Hawaiian for adopted) grandparents to our babies especially our toddler! They were here when we had the most damage done to our property from all the winter storms. They were a blessing to have and we are excited to have them back again next year!

Thankful for the Nichols and Wilson’s for coming out to serve with us at Pu’u Kahea again! They are our orange shirt crew and happens to always come when we have big mission groups doing landscaping so they get wrangled into MANY landscaping projects! With all the wet weather and storms everything grew so fast so it was great to have them here with us again!

Late post: Thankful for our Oahu BCM that brought out 2 mission teams in March, Carson Newman University from Tennessee and LSU from Louisiana. Both groups helped us clear a ton of brush down in the prayer garden and along fence lines. What a blessing because of all the rain we’ve had over the last few months.

Who says we don’t have winter weather in Hawaii?! It may not snow on Oahu but our winter months can be some of the wettest and windiest months of the year! This winter we’ve have multiple large trees fall, our tent canopy blew off, and greenery growing like crazy! Thankful that no one and no structures were damaged when the trees fell. So the last few months have been filled with a TON of green waste dumpster filling, cutting trees and limbs, mowing, trimming brushes, and weed eating! Lots of unexpected expenses but so thankful for our long term volunteers and our mission groups that have come out to help us clean things up! Ultimately we are thankful for God’s sovereignty and goodness through it all! 🙌

We had the pleasure of having the Corey’s service with us for the months of January and February this year! We started the year off with crazy winds and rain on Oahu so they helped greatly with lots of tree clean-ups, landscaping, and cleaning! What a blessing it was to have multiple hands to help!

Aloha! As our busy summer months are approaching we are looking for volunteers (preferably married couples) to help us at Pu’u Kahea Conference Center for the months of May, June, and July (yes this year!). We are looking for self starters that love to serve that can come out from 1-3 months to help us maintain the grounds and facilities by cleaning, minor repairs, and landscaping. We had the pleasure of having the Challenge AU and UH BCM serve here at PKCC! They did a bunch of landscaping, mowing, weed eating, and clearing out tree branches from our shed. Such a blessing especially after the weeks of rain we’ve had!

We had the blessing of having the Seely’s and the Cabe’s volunteer with us from the end of September to the beginning of December! They cleaned, landscaped, did laundry, fixed things, and did a TON of painting!! We refreshed most of the buildings green trim, doors, and exterior flooring. They also helped us repainted and repurposed Harris into a Pastor retreat duplex. They loved on us and our kids as well. Such a blessing ❤️

We were so grateful to have the Kirby’s out with us AGAIN! They were our first couple that came out as we started our volunteer partnership with North Carolina again. Another answered prayer because they intentional came to help us after our baby girl was born. 🩷

We had the pleasure of having the Hall’s volunteer with us this last month. They were a blessing especially in their timing of wanting to come out and volunteer with us here at Pu’u Kahea because we had our baby girl early August 🩷 They jumped right in the Chathams with cleaning, landscaping, painting, refinishing floors, and doing some much needed electrical work! Such a blessing to have volunteers that jump right in!

We had the pleasure of having the Chathams volunteer with us since mid June! They volunteered with us during two busiest months of the year 🙌 They helped us turn over the camp after all the big youth camps we had which was such a blessing. They cleaning, did laundry, landscaping, painting, and more. So very thankful for their God given servant heart 🙏

Last weekend we had some members from Olivet Baptist Church come out to the camp to help us get ready for OBN Youth Camp. They cleaned some bunkhouses and cleaned up our back fence line. Very thankful for members of our local churches that willingly come out to serve!

We continue to be blessed by amazing volunteers here at Pu’u Kahea! We are grateful to have had the Ellington’s volunteer with us for the last month in a half. They accomplished so much from cleaning, laundry, landscaping, and so many much needed carpentry projects through the camp. They were always on the go and worked so hard during these busy months! 🙌🙏

A mission group from FBC Covington (Tennessee) came out to help with a VBS at the Chapel at Hickam as well as helped us completed a couple of projects here at Pu’u Kahea! They painted the tent floor and outdoor bathroom floor and stairs (we replaced rotten plywood), painted Komohana, laid flooring in Peterson kitchen, and made some curtains/covered some couches. We loved their willing spirit and can do attitude! They were a blessing!

We had the pleasure of having the Ford’s here from Alabama volunteering with us for the month of May! They helped us clean gutters, landscaping, cleaning, repairs, and more! We love our volunteers!

We were blessed with another set of volunteers for most of the month of May! Cindy and Debbie volunteered with us and helped us organize a ton of linens, lots of landscaping, and lots of cleaning to get ready the camp looking great for our next guest. Thankful for our @bcmoahu and their mission group from Oklahoma University BCM. They came out to help us landscape and move more of our Kiawe wood logs into a nice stack near the campfire. 🙌

We had the pleasure of having the Wilsons and the Nichols from North Carolina with us for the month of April! They accomplished a ton while serving with us here. They did a lots of landscaping, replaced flooring and stairs, cleaned, power-washed, organized linens! We are thankful to our Lord for our volunteers!
